Jean Bacon joins HCapSearchSenior after more than 35 years working within all levels of the aging services continuum, from healthcare services to housing. She intimately understands the needs of senior populations and their families and has successfully guided executives at all levels of senior living communities.
An industry thought leader and frequent speaker at AAHSA/LeadingAge state and national conferences, Jean has mentored dozens of senior living CEOs from communities of all sizes. One of only a handful of women CEOs in the senior living industry at the time, Jean helped start and was the chairman of the Women’s Leadership Task Force, a networking and education group within AAHSA for women executives in the senior living industry. As Chairman of the Task Force, Jean organized two national conferences on Women Leaders in Aging. A pioneer in forging community partnerships among organizations of like missions, Jean’s depth of knowledge of the aging continuum, combined with a contemporary understanding of the demands of the industry offers a unique perspective and understanding of the needs of HCapSearchSenior clients.
As she guides a senior living search, Jean will bring an understanding of construction management, financial feasibility, bond financing and all facets of operational management. She is direct and empowering in her coaching style and is a strong advocate of board leadership, training and active involvement in the leadership succession process.
After serving as the first director of a large Midwest Area Agency, Jean led groundbreaking efforts to create Bishop Spencer Place as a top-quality Episcopal CCRC in Kansas City’s Urban Core. At BSP, Jean guided the initial fundraising, construction and fill-up, and led the organization through a second major expansion. Previously, Jean founded and led a managed care coordinating agency for aging seniors. She currently lives in Richmond, Virginia, and serves as a consultant and education advisor.
