Two questions frequently crop up: “What is an HCap?” and “Why aren’t you guys Christopher & Long any more?”

Christopher & Long, established in 1968, still exists as a Technology Recruiting Firm. In 2002, HCap Search was born as a division of Christopher & Long specializing in the insurance industry. This insurance industry specialization began in 1978 and has been led by Barry Tower since 1992.

The three principals of HCap Search are Dave Flanders (joined Christopher & Long in 1973); Gary Abram (joined C & L in 1979 as VP of the Insurance Division); and Barry Tower (joined in 1980).

In 2002, Gary rejoined his former partners, Dave and Barry to help re-engineer the Insurance Division. Wishing to rebrand the Insurance Division, HCap (Human Capital) Search was selected for its descriptiveness.

Our databases are massive and continually evolving. Our standards prevent us from recycling stale data or candidates. Consequently each new search requires new and original research. Over 30 years of talent scouting has affirmed that the “best” candidate may or may not be “looking”. It is imperative that your story be told passionately to yield the best of the best, providing a clear look into the depths of the talent pool, not just a quick skim of what’s on top.

We prefer retained search, however we work on behalf of our clients on a contingent or predetermined fee structure.
