When the term "human capital" came into vogue in recent years, we adopted it as a part of our name- HCap. In company after company that we collaborated with, we saw the clear distinction in the performance of those companies that truly valued their people (human capital) and those who paid lip service. Those companies that recognized that their competitive advantage was talent have energized and loyal people that we couldn't have budged if we tried.

In Jim Collin's now classic study of great companies (Good to Great), he notes that great companies adhere to guiding principles that become their "hedgehog"- their singular focus. We're not a particularly large firm, but we're sure that's not what makes a company great. We've been together a long time (though it only seems like yesterday). Dave Flanders leads the technology search practice and has since 1973. Barry Tower heads up the Insurance team and has since been identifying the best in that industry since 1980.
